This hills and dales estate engagement session felt like one of those days where everything eventually falls into place.

We photographed this session at Hills and Dales Estate in LaGrange, Georgia. It is a refined, historic property with formal gardens and peaceful walking paths. Although the estate feels grand, it still allows sessions to feel relaxed and personal.
This couple met while attending the University of Georgia about five years ago. Since then, they have built a life together in Atlanta. Jack works hands on in construction, tearing down walls and building things from scratch. Meanwhile, Mary works in construction software. So, it seems like they have great connections in their personal life and for their work life as well.

Wedding Photographer in Atlanta
I’m Hunter, a wedding and engagement photographer based in Atlanta drawn to days that feel calm, intentional, and honest. I photograph couples who value connection, trust the process, and want images that feel natural over forced. With experience across historic estates and meaningful locations, I focus on moments that feel true to you. If this resonates, I would love to hear your story and help document this season of your life.
A Connection That Came Full Circle
Interestingly, this couple had found me through a previous couple of mine. She was in the same sorority as one of my previous brides, Ella. Likewise, Jack was in the same fraternity as Ella’s husband, Andrew.
They originally saw Ella and Andrew’s wedding photos and reached out shortly after.
Because of that, this hills and dales estate engagement session felt familiar from the start. There was trust already built, which always helps couples relax faster. As a result, the images feel natural and unforced.

Exploring Hills and Dales Estate
Hills and Dales Estate offers a variety of backdrops in one location. The gravel paths guide you through manicured gardens and shaded walkways. Stone walls and trimmed hedges add structure without feeling stiff.
Additionally, the historic home anchors the property beautifully. Its symmetry and classic details photograph well from every angle. Because of that, it pairs perfectly with elegant but effortless outfits.
Outfit Choices That Fit the Setting
Their outfits complemented the estate perfectly. Mary wore a fitted black lace dress paired with heeled boots. The texture added interest without competing with the surroundings.

Later, she layered with a classic jacket for warmth. This added variety while still keeping the look cohesive.

Jack wore neutral pants with layered tops, including a quilted vest and sweater. These tones blended well with the gardens and stone features. Together, their looks felt intentional but never overdone.

Why This Session Felt So Natural
More than anything, this session worked because they trusted the process. They laughed easily and stayed close between photos. Those in between moments often become my favorite images.
Because we were not rushed, we could lean into those moments.
This hills and dales estate engagement session is a great example of that. The setting elevated the images, but their connection carried them.
